Another delayed Monday post. If this turns into a trend, I might need to permanently shift to a Tuesday post instead.

One more for the road
You may have already read the excellent dual review by Dylan and Patrick, with reactions swinging between good and great. So why talk about it again?
Because I plan to buy it. And why talk about it now, when the game’s been out for a couple weeks?
Because it has only just become available on the PC.
The Max Payne series has always been a PC-centric title for me, despite making appearances on consoles as well (there’s apparently a Max Payne for the Game Boy Advance which I’d love to check out). The way the game flows and controls always seemed most natural on a keyboard+mouse combo.
I know the control scheme might mean less, given the soft lock aiming systems that Rockstar seem to love so much (I know you can switch to free aim). Or that the emphasis on cover might lessen the need for the finesse that a mouse offers. Regardless, haven’t you ever felt that a game needed to be played on a specific platform just because anything otherwise would just feel wrong? It’s completely illogical, irrational, but I don’t care, damnit!
Max Payne 3 is now available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and on PC.
